How do we make sense of the past? How can we give meaning to our lives? Is the self an illusion? In a cultural climate deafened by the cacophony of political discourse, my work focuses on these fundamental existential questions. To answer these questions I work with advertisements, the internet, dreams, memories and Buddhist philosophy.
While studying abroad, a professor would hypnotise my class to relive forgotten memories. The experience of delving uninhibited into the unconscious enriched my practise greatly. While I don’t try to hypnotise myself now, I work in a quick and intuitive, stream-of-consciousness style, layering as I reveal and conceal a piece, all in the attempt to capture the raw emotional truth of experience
